Jankovic to win Roland Garros 2008 @ 7.50 gamebookers with 5 units

Even though the main draw isn't out yet , i have an ideea on who should be the queen this year , after Justine decided to call it a day.

Who is the favourite in the bookies eyes ? Serena Williams , Sharapova and Ivanovic have the best 3 chances in the bookies eyes. I tend to disagree , however the draw will look.

Serena is one of the favourite because of her hard shots , but she also gets tired very easy on this surface and in the higher stages of the tournament she will have problems.Sharapova had problems on clay all the year , even though she comes to RG only loosing to Serena , she had a lot of 3 sets matches , or matches where she was on the verge of loosing a set.

Ivanovic , last year's finalist is one of the better players , but let's face it , clay isn't her best surface , she tends to try a lot of winners , and when she isn't at her best like she was last year she will have problems winning even against decent players.

So who i see favourite ? My pick for this tournament is Jankovic . Jelena has always been strong on clay , she comes this season with a 10-2 record on clay and a 30-9 record on all surfaces , she has 33-7 record in last 2 years on clay , with 3 of those losses coming against Henin , made semi-final last year at RG where she lost to Henin after she only lost one set to Venus in her way to the Semis.

She has the style of play for clay-courts , as she has the ability to run for every ball and that forehand-down-the-line should give her a big advantage against players like the Williams sisters .

She has a 3-1 advantage on clay vs Venus , never met Serena on clay , is down 1-0 against Ivanovic on clay ( but green clay which is faster ) , and never played against Sharapova on clay , leads Kuznetsova 1-0 , tied with Dementieva 1-1 , and leads Safina 1-0 on clay.

This is of course if she doesn't gets injured or gets blown away in the early rounds by a surprise player .

Franco Ferreiro vs Paul Capdeville.

Well both players won quite easily yesterday's matches , Capdeville winning 6-2 6-3 and Ferreiro 6-2 6-1.

H2H the results are tied at 2 , with Capdeville leading 2-1 on clay , weirdly loosing the only meeting after winning the first set 6-0.But all their meetings were in challengers , today on one of the biggest stages of the ATP level , where Capdeville is clearly more experienced than his opponent.

Odds are pretty good , so a small stake is worth taking.

Kažką čia truputį į pievas pašnekėjai. Kaip gali būti taip, jog statant už pavojingesnę sporto šaką, lengviau išlaikomas stabilumas? Jei iš vienos (na gal dviejų) bendrovių pirkai ir vieną mėnesį atnešė minusą, nereiškia kad taip visąlaik yra. Taigi kiekvienoje sporto šakoje kai kuriais mėnesiai būna minuso.

Hernych vs Schukin

Well let's see why the bookie made Hernych a favorite here ....

He beat ###### Norman 6-4 7-5 in the first round of qualifiers.Should that be good against a serve-volley 37 years old that won only 4 matches in his career at Roland Garros ? I don't think so.

Schukin on the other hand disposed very easily of Lacko 6-0 6-1 .

Schukin has clearly had a better season than Hernych , i believe he likes clay better than the Czech does ..

The way the draw looks , the winner of this match will probably be on the main draw , as the opponents on this side of the draw looks weaker on clay , so all to play for today.

The odds on Schukin have a little value , i would have taken him even if there were 50-50 chances

M.Sequerra vs Lillia Osterloh

Well not much to say , two players who haven't been at their best this year, but Sequerra's experience on clay should prevail , as after all she lost to Shvedova , Szavay , Rezai , Vesnina , all better players than Osterloh. She is 53-37 on clay in her activity while Lillia is only 22-42.

Also Osterloh never won a match on the clay of Roland Garros , and that says a lot about her game on clay.Sequerra should win easy in straight sets , but as she hasn't been at her best lately i'll just take the normal win .

Wawrinka plays a hard first round match against Kohlschreiber , he comes after going out against Kiefer in Hamburg , while the german has a good morale after beating Ferrer and Starace and loosing against Andreev.He had a decent year on clay , loosing just to Andreev , Davydenko and Robredo . He has a big chance against Wawrinka , even though he ain't a favourite.They never met.

On the other hand Gonzalez has a 2-0 H2H advantage against Cuevas and i don't see any chance he can loose a 3/5 match against his younger opponent.

The second round will probably be easy for both if they make it , Gonzalez has a 3-1 advantage against Volandri , because i don't give any chance to Andujar , while in the second round Wawrinka if he won't choke like he sometimes does he will have no problem.

So in the third round they will meet if Wawrinka will get passed Kohlschreiber.H2H between Gonzalez and Wawrinka the score is 4-0 for the chilian , only loosing one set to Wawrinka .

So as the odds are 50-50 , i believe they won't be 50-50 chances even if they will meet in the third round , and that may not happen as Kohlschreiber has good chances he will take Wawrinka out early.
