Sidney Ponson is now with the Royals (his seventh Major League team) and he’s actually pitched pretty well in his two starts so far this season. He faced Cleveland in his second and latest start less than a week ago and turned in a quality outing, giving up only two earned runs in six innings. Everytime we thought we’d seen the last of Ponson, he pops up on somebody’s roster and more often than not, he makes a positive contribution at some point in the season. Indians’ young lefthander Aaron Laffey was frustrated that he didn’t get the last spot in the rotation as the team broke spring training, but an early injury to #5 starter Scott Lewis has opened the door for Laffey, and the southpaw has already taken advantage, ironically in the same game that featured Ponson last Wednesday. Laffey had almost an identical line to Ponson’s and, although he got a no-decision in that one, the Tribe have to be pretty happy with the way he performed. Take the UNDER!

3* MLB Blowout of the Week on Phillies -126 Philly has had Milwaukee's number, going 9-1 against the Brew Crew at home the last 3 seasons. I expect this domination to continue tonight against Manny Parra who brings in his 10.39 road ERA. Parra has had just one start against the Phillies but it did not go well to say the least, as evidenced by an ERA of 33.83 and a WHIP of 7.519. Moyer looks to build off of a better outing in his second start and should be able to do so as he is 32-8 against the money line when pitching against a terrible team (Win Pct. <=38%) since 1997. While Milwaukee is known for its power, it struggles when going up against teams that can match it at the plate. In fact, it is just 3-14 against the money line vs. good power teams averaging 1.25 or more HR's/game over the last 2 seasons. I'll bet the Phillies at home tonight.
