The Mets can't build a decent streak as they are 5-5 L10 games however their offense is starting to show some expected progress. The Mets scored 7, 4, 3, 5, 5 and 6 runs in the last 5 games and taking in account that the Braves are sending Kenshin Kawakami to the mound I expect this good run to keep it going.

 

Kawakami had a decent start by beating the lowly Nationals but since then he couldn't repeat such performance. Last outing was his worst start of the season vs. Cincinnati when he allowed eight runs and eight hits, including two homers, in just 4 2/3 innings. In fact he allowed at least one home run in each his 4 starts and with 11 walks for 21 2/3 innings Kawakami is a pretty hittable pitcher and facing the potent offense of the Mets I don't expect Kawakami to have a great night.

 

However the same can be said about Mets' pitcher Livan Hernandez. Like Kawakami, Hernadez had a strong start by beating the Marlins on the road but since then he struggled in three consecutive outings allowing 4, 7 and 3 runs. Hernandez has horrible numbers vs. Atlanta with dismal numbers 5-15 and 5.26 ERA and by not showing any kind of improvement in the past outings I don't expect suddenly Hernandez to roll tonight. With two struggling pitchers on the mound I expect this ballgame to be a slugfest.

The Cardinals are a great underdog tonight and with this price I'm taking them without any kinds of doubt. I think that this is the ideal spot to fade Reds' pitcher Johnny Cueto. Cueto started the season showing tremendous command problems but apparently he bounced back and in his last 3 starts he allowed 0, 1 and 0 runs. These are great numbers but I still don't trust him enough to beat a potent lineup like the Cardinals are. Besides the fact that the Reds are 3-13 in Cueto's last 16 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance just look for his opponents in those 3 starts: Pirates, Houston and Cubs! If you haven't noticed these 3 teams are in the bottom of the NL in hitting. The best team is the Astros - 9th in the NL. Well, the Cardinals are a different animal and Cueto last season was pounded when he faced the Cards: he allowed 6 and 7 runs in 2 starts. In fact the actual Cardinals' lineup is batting .481 BA vs. Cueto!!!

 

The Cardinals meanwhile send Joel Pineiro and Pineiro is doing a terrific job so far in the season. Yes, he doesn't have he stuff to be an ace but he is keeping the Cards in a position to win the ballgames and their offense usually does the rest. That's why the Cards are 4-1 with him on the mound this season. Last outing Pineiro allowed 4 runs in 7 innings vs. Washington but note that all the 4 runs come in the same inning (the 5th) so Pineiro made a good job. I expect a similar performance from him tonight. With him being decent tonight the Cards have a great chance to win this ballgame. They are 4-1 in their last 5 games as an underdog. Note that for the Reds 2B Brandon Phillips and 1B Joey Votto are doubtful for this contest and especially Votto is potentially a big loss for the Reds.

Davis has a solid 3.52 ERA on the season and has always been strong at home. In fact, the Diamondbacks are 11-3 in Davis' last 14 starts as a home favorite of -110 to -150. The Nationals are only 4-11 in the last 15 meetings in this matchup and I expect them to fall again tonight. Take the Snakes!

"i was just gonna ask or start a thread about this, my local has k.city at -110 ... i dont understand this line and at 1st glance i would say royals, how cant you at this price.. greinke has been lights out with an UNDER 1 era and his team is 6-0 when he takes the mound...he's facing saunders who's been decent ( 4-1 3.29 era) but i would think this line should be at least -140 to -155 or higher the way he's been pitching.. he has been absolutely dominent and i will take this line all day whether its a "trap" or not."
