Charlotte at Cleveland , Charlotte Bobcats (+14,5) @1.91

The NBA season is a marathon and not a sprint. This is a sentence very used on the media and I think that for this game, we have the right spot for Charlotte. Look, the Cavs are in a spot where they cashed in the past, as they are 5-0 ATS after a loss this season, but after saying that, I have to also say that the league is changing and the big power clubs aren’t blowing out every opponent that they face anymore. Just look to the Celtics, Magic, Lakers or even this Cavaliers team. They are losing some unthinkable games right now and for today, no way these 14 points spread is a fair price for them. 

The Bobcats upsetted yesterday the reigning champions Boston Celtics with a win in overtime by 114-106. That was a brutal loss for the public money, as they expected a bounce back for the Celtics, which had lost against the Knicks on the previous game and naturally the public money fell in love with Cleveland tonight, even though they are being favored by 14 points. 

The Cavs aren’t playing at their best. They are just 1-4 ATS in the last 5 games with the only cover being against a pathetic Bulls team, who were without Drew Gooden. In their last game they only lost by three points in Washington, but they were trailing by 16 points at one point! The absence of starting center Zydrunas Ilgauskas is a huge loss, because Z is not only a great mid range shooter, but also because the Cavs enjoyed one of the best three man rotations of big men in the league, with Ilgauskas, Anderson Varejao and Ben Wallace, particularly in terms of defense and rebounding. With that trio shutting down the paint defensively, the Cavs are one of the toughest teams to beat. 

I really don’t expect the Cavs to bring their “A” effort tonight. Just look to their schedule. They will play against Boston on Friday night and that is a huge home game for them and I think that for today we will see just a good enough Cavs team to win this game. 

Meanwhile, the Bobcats are a decent underdog this season; they are 9-4 ATS being dogs, 9-3 ATS when catching seven points or more and already they are 8-1 ATS in road games after playing a game as an underdog this season. 

Both teams have already played this season with Cleveland winning big both games by 20 (on the road) and 17 points and that’s another reason for them to not bring their A effort on this game. By saying that, I think we have great value on Charlotte tonight. Take them as my UNDERDOG Play of the Month. Double Dime Play.

Philadelphia at Milwaukee , Philadelphia 76ers (+7) @1.97

Sooner or late this would happen: the Bucks are such a great ATS team this season with a 24-11-1 ATS record that in some moment, they would start to be overvalued and I think this is clearly what is happing in here. 

The Bucks will probably be without their starting center Andrew Bogut for the third consecutive game and they didn’t fare well without him in the previous contests. They lost clearly in Charlotte by 92-102 and in their last game they defeated the Raptors by 107-97, covering the 8.5 point spread, but this score lies about what happened on the court: the Raptors were without PG Jose Calderon and C Jermaine O’Neal and still they led the game down the stretch that game and in fact the Bucks ended the game with a 10-0 run, so a kind of letdown is expected in here. 

The Sixers meanwhile are one of the most disappointing teams so far in this season. They have already burnt some picks of my own, but the fact is that they are a more competitive team lately. They are playing their unorthodox style again that so good results gave them last season. Without Elton Brand, they are again an explosive team, who relies on the fast breaks points and in their last game, they scored 29 fast break points against Houston! In fact, although they are 1-2 in their last 3 games, but they were extremely competitive in all of them: they lost by 10 points in Dallas, where the Mavericks made a huge comeback down the stretch; They lost by 2 points in San Antonio in a game decided in the last second by Tony Parker and in their last game, they defeated the Rockets by 104-96 in their best game of the season so far (while shooting 56.2% FG). 

The Bucks don’t fare well against the unorthodox style of the Sixers. Last season the h2h ended favorable for the Sixers 3-1 and already this season the Sixers won at home by 93-88. I expect this game to be a ballgame and with the Sixers having 7 points in here, this make the dog be a valuable bet. Take the Sixers in here.

Houston at Boston , Under 184.5 @1.98

For this game we have both teams in an awful mood: Boston is 2-5 SU in their last 7 games, which is a big surprise taking in account that they started this season in such a powerful display and the Rockets have lost 3 games in a row. 

When we thing of the strength of these teams automatically we say it’s their defense, this fact is correct but not lately for both teams; Boston allowed more than 100 points to the Knicks on the road and yesterday they allowed the Bobcats to score 97 points in the regulation and then more 17 points in the overtime and we are talking in a Bobcats team who isn’t know for their offense. 

When asked what is the problem of Celtics right now their captain Paul Pierce said the following: 

“It’s our defense,”; “Teams are way too comfortable when they go up against us now,” the Celtics captain said. “We’re missing assignments. One person can mess up the whole five, so we all have to get back on the same page. We had a seven-point lead with (nine) minutes left tonight, and we didn’t get the stops we needed.” 

The same is happening with the Rockets lately, in six of their eight losses they allowed the opponents to hit 49.5 percent of their shots and they allowed more than 100 points in back to back games for the first time since the beginning of December! 

"For whatever reason, we've taken steps back on the defensive end," McGrady said. "In the past (defense) has been our make up, a great defensive team. No matter how bad we were struggling on the offensive end, we always seemed to play defense. The last week or two, it got away from us." 

Saying that, we have two teams who will be focused on defense tonight. The Celtics are 7-1 Under in back to back games and playing at home against Western Teams the Under cashed big this season: 6-0-1! I expect an ugly game tonight ending in the 170’s points. Take the under in here!

New Orleans at Utah , Over 191,5 @1.93

I think that 191.5 points is just too low for this matchup. These teams played each other four different teams in the last season and the lines was 196.5, 202, 208 and 210.5 points. Today it’s only 191.5 and it’s curious because both teams are in good form on the offensive end. 

The Hornets had yesterday a big win in LA by beating the Lakers 116-105. Just remember that they scored only 86 and 87 in the previews contests against the Lakers, this offensive flow happened also in Denver where the Hornets scored 60 second half points but fell short in that game. 

Today they will face a team who is playing well lately and one of the main reasons is that the team is relatively healthy as only All Star Carlos Boozers is unavailable. The Jazz scored 112, 100 and 119 points in their last 3 games and PG Deron Williams is the key of this surge, as he had 20.6 ppg and 11 apg in those contests. 

The same can be said of Chris Paul. CP3 had a monster game yesterday against the Lakers: 32 points, 15 assists, no turnovers (a 15-0 A/TO amazing ratio) and 3 steals. With their leaders playing phenomenal basketball right now, it won’t be hard to turn this game into a high scoring game. The Over is 5-2 in the Hornets' last 7 games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game and in the same trend, the Jazz are 4-0 Over! Take the over in here!
