Two days ago I suddenly got a lot of giraffes from Lithuania and I had no idea why. So I check my log and it turns out that a lot of people came from Alfa.lt, a Lithuanian newspaper. They wrote this article about the project. I don't speak Lithuanian, but Google helped me out a little. I believe they're challenging their readers to make Lithuania the number one country in the statistics. And that certainly had an effect.

 

When they wrote the article I had 782 Lithuanian giraffes. 50 hours later I have 1.229 giraffes from Lithuania. That's almost nine Lithuanian giraffes every hour since the article was written! Amazing! The article has given me 2.297 unique visitors (clicking 17.024 times on the website) so far. I've also gotten plenty of hits from other Lithuanian websites like blake.lt, cha.lt and about 200 other minor blogs and websites.

 

I love this challenge and I would love to see Lithuania on the top of the country list. I'm thinking I should go to Lithuania some time soon after all this effort and goodwill from these wonderful people! But what about the other countries? Are you just gonna let Lithuania climb up to the top of the list?!?

Never underestimate Lithuania!

On the 7th of August I blogged about Lithuania wanting to be number one on the country list. And I can't believe that they actually made it to the top! Well done, Lithuanians! I am very, very impressed! I love this rivalry between countries! Some of you have even taken this "fight" into the giraffe world! Take a look at this giraffe drawn by Mason from Germany:

The German giraffes are obviously frustrated by being beaten by Lithuania, Norway and Switzerland. Who knows, maybe they will get their crayons together and draw their way to the top?
